Like many in the field, he began in an entry-level technical writing position that quickly evolved into designing online help systems. From there, he moved into feature design and testing. After gaining early industry experience, he stepped into test management and later served briefly as Director of Production at MumboJumbo.

At Gearbox, he has held multiple roles across development and narrative: Project Producer (Furious Four), Design Producer (Borderlands 2), Creative Director (Battleborn), and Managing Producer of Narrative.

Building on that foundation, he helped grow the Narrative department into Gearbox Properties, leading the division for two years as its President and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to develop franchise storytelling across multiple media.

Today, Randy serves as Chief Creative Officer for Gearbox Entertainment, a role that reflects the expanded scope of his leadership and creative direction for the company’s properties.
